Chieli Minucci gitáros a ’80-as évek elején alakult világhírű amerikai jazz/funk/world formációnak, a Special EFX-nek a néhai Jinda György ütőhangszeressel együtt alapító tagja és mai napig vezetője.
A nyolcvanas és kilencvenes években a Special EFX a tengerentúli jazz élet egyik legjelentősebb zenekara volt, és mind a mai napig kiemelkedő résztvevője, több Grammy jelöléssel a tarsolyukban.
Magyarországon a Djabe együttes vezetője, Égerházi Attila adta ki a legutóbbi Special EFX albumot vinylen. Ennek alkalmából a Djabe zenekar együtt játszott Chielivel a Budapest Jazz Clubban. A zenészek ekkor határozták el, hogy 2024 májusában közös európai turnéra indulnak.
A turné a Tour of Waterfalls címet kapta. A Djabénak és Chielinek is van egy Waterfall című kompozíciója. A két szerzemény foglalja keretbe a műsort, melyben Chieli Minucci, Djabe és Special EFX számok hangzanak majd el.
A Djabe a hazai Jazz/World fusion műfaj elsőszámú képviselője. Számtalan hazai és nemzetközi díj birtokosa. 1995 óta több mint száz kiadványuk jelent meg szerte a világban. Keresettek a nemzetközi fesztiválokon és koncerthelyszíneken. Eddig 44 országban léptek fel. Több mint 20 éve dolgoznak együtt a világhírű Genesis gitárosával, Steve Hackettel. Ettől az évtől kezdve Chieli Minucci is részt vesz a Djabe lemezek készítésében és közös turnékat is szerveznek.
Chieli nem csak zeneszerzőként és zenekar vezetőként ismert, hiszen számos kiváló előadónak készített felvételt és lépett fel velük együtt. Guitarist, composer, producer, and arranger Chieli Minucci has continued to carry the band’s torch, and is still the longtime leader of the Grammy-nominated jazz-fusion group SPECIAL EFX featuring Chieli Minucci, a major force on the jazz and world music scene for over 40 years.
In Hungary, the bandleader of Djabe, Attila Égerházi, released the latest Special EFX album on vinyl. On this occasion, the Djabe band played together with Chieli at the Budapest Jazz Club. The musicians then decided to embark on a joint European tour in May 2024. As the first stop of the performance series, they will return to the stage of the Budapest Jazz Club on May 23.
The tour was christined the Tour of Waterfalls. Djabe and Chieli also have a composition called Waterfall. The two compositions frame the show, in which Chieli Minucci, Djabe and Special EFX songs will be played.
Djabe is the number one representative of the Hungarian Jazz/World fusion genre. Djabe received numerous domestic and international awards. Since 1995, more than a hundred and twenty of their releases have appeared all over the world. They are in demand at international festivals and concert venues. They have performed in 44 countries so far. Djabe has been working together with the world-famous Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett for more than 20 years.
Besides writing and performing his own music, Chieli shares his guitar brilliance throughout the entertainment world. He has recorded and performed with many top artists, such as Celine Dion, Lou Reed, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Lopez, Jewel, Mark Anthony, Michael Bolton, Rupert Holmes, Eartha Kitt, Eddie Fisher, Anastasia, as well as contemporary jazz artists Kirk Whalum, Maysa, Jeff Lorber, Norman Brown, Bernie Williams, Marion Meadows, Lao Tizer, Mindi Abair, Rick Braun, Gerald Veasley, Omar Hakim, and many others.

Chieli’s original scoring work can be heard in live stage productions of Peter Pan, Dora the Explorer, Thomas the Tank Engine, and others.
