A brand new line-up for Djabe!
The number one representative of jazz/world fusion stepped into its 21th year of life. Djabe performed in 42 countries with exceptional success along these years. The band holds numerous local and foreign music awards, and in the spotlight of international recognition. This spring Djabe’s 20-year anniversary concert brought a new album also, titled 20 Dimensions which reflects the time past and serves as a synthesis of the band’s career. The content of this album summarizes the career of the band in many different ways. The 20 Dimensions summer premiere tour spread across two continents, and after Rochester in USA had its final gig at the Canadian Edmonton International Jazz Festival.
Founder of the band, Attila Égerházi (guitar) and musical director Tamás Barabás (bass guitar) refreshed the band after the grand tour. This concert will be the first to introduce the 3 new members to the audience and marks the beginning of the New Dimensions Update Tour spanning through 2016 and 2017. Égerházi and Barabás stayed true to the high standards accustomed to Djabe when selecting the newest members of the band.
At the drums sits the internationally acclaimed, Artisjus Award-winner and Grammy Award nominee Péter Kaszás, who was and still is the drummer for Al Di Meola’s band, World Sinfonia, for 7 years. The old-but-new member of Djabe, Áron Koós-Hutás, multiple award-winning trumpet player who performed at many gigs of the band between 2008 and 2010. Primarily as second for Ferenc Kovács, Áron played alongside with the old Djabe member in 2010. He can be heard and seen on Djabe 15 DVD and on In the Footsteps of Attila and Genghis double CDs. The keyboards are under the hands of the Hungarian musical life’s outstanding talent János Nagy. The Artisjus, eMeRTon and Erkel Award-winning musician played with exceptional Hungarian and foreign celebrities along his career.
