Djabe and Steve Hackett – Live in Gyor – Review by Gary Hill

Djabe and Steve Hackett have worked together quite a bit over the years. The world jazz act and former Genesis guitarist who has pursued a brilliant solo career for a long time work really well together. Their collaborations are always high quality. This live set is no exception. There is a full concert on two CDs with some bonus tracks from other shows. It also includes a Blu-Ray of the main concert. The Blu-Ray also has a documentary and several film and video clips. The video is great, but it’s just the icing on the cake for me. You just can’t go wrong with these two acts, and this is another classy release from them.

Djabe – Witchi Tai To Live 2019 review by Jozé

Djabe – Live in Edmonton review by Kent Sangster

“Live in Edmonton” showcases why Djabe is the #1 Fusion band in Hungary.

Djabe – Live in Edmonton review by Jozé

Djabe, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2020, released this year’s first album, a double CD on 19 March. These 25 years pack outstanding producing and releases, even on a global scale. With over 100 releases Djabe stands for a sounding and production quality on par with those of King Crimson, Yes or Zappa.

Back To Sardinia review by genesis-news.com

A playtime of 78 minutes makes this almost a double album. Back To Sardinia continues almost seamlessly where 2017’s Life Is A Journey left off. Djabe are no funky jazz combo, they go for a dapper sound and play in a calm fashion. Back To Sardinia leaves enough space for each musician to shine.

Life Is A Journey rewiew by genesis-news.com

Steve Hackett needs not be introduced here. The name Djabe, on the other hand, may draw a blank stare, so let me say a few words about this band first. Djabe is a jazz/fusion/world music band from Hungary who quite happily mix jazz with Hungarian folklore. Their name comes from Akan, an African family of languages, and means “freedom”. Djabe was founded in 1995 by Attila Égerházi and other musicians. Over the years, their line-up has changed several times.

Life Is A Journey review

Dmitry M. Epstein, DMME.net
Gone are the days when Steve Hackett was a guest of this Hungarian ensemble; the Englishman’s guitar has long become an integral fiber in the collective texture. He not only recorded but also toured with them, and it’s after the release of the collaborative live document that the idea came about of preserving studio improvisations for posterity.

Life Is A Journey review

I previously reviewed an album with these two artists. On that one Hackett got the first billing. This time it’s reversed. I love the music on this thing. It’s part killer jazz, part prog rock and all cool. Only the first song has vocals.

Summer Storms & Rocking Rivers review

Although billed as Steve Hackett & Djabe, this is more of a Djabe FEATURING Steve Hackett product, believe me when I say, that it’s no bad thing at all.  Originally released as a double vinyl & Blue Ray set only.

Live in Blue LP – review HU

A 2015. év első Djabe kiadványa a Down and Up turné érdekesebb felvételeiből szemezget. Égerházi Attiláék ezzel, az újabb rendkívül igényes kiadvánnyal ismét szintet ugrottak. A Live in Blue LP példaértékű mind tartalmában, mind kivitelében, mind minőségében.

A hangzasvilag.hu kritikája.

Köszönhetően a legnépszerűbb hazai etno-jazz zenekar, a Djabe saját munkássága minél teljesebb dokumentálására irányuló, eredményes törekvésének.
